Visiting Puy du Fou is like taking a real journey back in time. Nestled in the heart of the Vendée region, this one-of-a-kind theme park has been voted the best park in the world on several occasions. You won’t find any rides or roller coasters here; instead, it’s the grandiose shows, inspired by the history of France and Europe, that delight both young and old. For those who enjoy cultural getaways, this visit can be perfectly integrated into a broader itinerary, such as a road trip to discover the Loire Valley Châteaux in a motorhome.

Preparing your visit to Puy du Fou: our truly practical tips

  • Ideal visit duration:
We visited the park in 2 days and had time to see absolutely every show. However, we would clearly advise 3 days because the waiting times are really long. And we went in the spring; we can’t imagine the crowds in the middle of summer. 2 days is a bit short to take your time and imposes a fast pace on children.
  • Organize your day:
Organization! That’s the key to a successful trip to Puy du Fou! Upon arrival, grab the show times for the day or get them directly online and plan your day according to the show schedules AND not according to a specific area! Okay, you’ll walk a lot, but this method will ensure you don’t miss anything!
  • What are the best times to go:
Unfortunately, if you have children, you’ll inevitably be there during peak season, whether it’s spring, summer, or autumn, and so you’ll be far, very far from alone! To give you an example, we stayed there during the spring holidays: the park wasn’t packed, as we could move around the pathways easily, but the waiting times were still long and could be up to 1 hour for some shows.
  • Download the mobile app!
It’s super practical and well-made, essential for checking show times and booking a restaurant.
  • Book your restaurants!
This is essential if you want to get a table! You can book all the sit-down restaurants; don’t think you can just show up at noon and find a spot…
  • Do your shopping in the morning:
That’s right! Just like during a stay at the Zoo de Beauval, if you want to take your time and actually see something, don’t go at the end of the day!

Tips to optimize your visit

  • Book your tickets online:
This will allow you to get the best prices and take advantage of promotions that are only available on the website.
  • Avoid the queues:
Well, there’s no secret here, as there are two very different options! Either you have the budget, in which case, go for it and get the Emotion Pass. Starting at €30 per person per day, this pass allows you to skip the queues and also reserve well-located seats at the shows.
If you don’t have the budget, well, do what we did and don’t wait in line! Simply by arriving 15 minutes before the shows start. But at that price, you’ll understand that you won’t get the best seats! It’s a choice you have to make.
  • Where to sit for the shows:
Your seat depends on when you get in line and how long you’re willing to wait! We saw people start queuing 1.5 hours before the shows began!!

Puy du Fou in a motorhome

Puy du Fou provides a paid area for you to come with your converted vehicle.

There are 650 spots to park your vehicle. This area is free for the first 12 hours of parking, then becomes paid based on the length of your stay. The area has trees and the spots are a decent size.

In terms of infrastructure, there is a sanitary block with toilets, showers, as well as a corner for washing your dishes and, of course, facilities for emptying waste water and refilling with fresh water. The parking fee includes electricity.

Every morning, there’s also a bakery stand with fresh bread and pastries, and that’s more than just a bonus!

The area is about a 15-minute walk from the park entrance via a dedicated pedestrian path. But if you prefer, the park offers a free shuttle service in the morning and evening!

FAQ about Puy du Fou, questions this way!

We loved our stay at Puy du Fou! It was a wonderful discovery for us and, honestly, it truly deserves its title of “best theme park.”
We enjoyed all the shows, although we have our own personal favorites 😉

The park is huge and the pathways are spacious, which allows for smooth foot traffic despite the crowds.

The motorhome area is pleasant and inexpensive considering the services it offers and its proximity to the park entrance.
